The Enfield Poets have teamed up with Brimsdown Primary School to create a new poem using British Sign Language (BSL) to highlight the campaign to recognise BSL as a language through an act of Parliament.
Our award-winning poet, Cheryl Moskowitz, worked with students and teachers over three weeks at Brimsdown Primary School in North East Enfield to create a new poem for students to perform at the BSL Act Now event on Friday 18th March in central London.
Achieving legal recognition of BSL through an Act of Parliament in the UK would be a huge step forward in terms of improving Deaf people’s quality of life, their inclusion and autonomy in British society, educational and professional opportunities, and even their health outcomes.
