Enfield Poets Presents: Ruth Padel and Vijay Jagtap

Friday 14th February, 7pm

Experience an unforgettable evening of romance and enchantment at Forty Hall, illuminated by the warm glow of candlelight. Renowned poet Ruth Padel will share her exquisite poetry, accompanied by the mesmerising sounds of the sitar played by Vijay Jagtap, with Udit Pankhania on the tabla.

Ruth Padel, celebrated for her thirteen acclaimed poetry collections, will read from her latest work, Girl—praised by Mona Arshi for its “mystery, wonder, and mythmaking.” She will also present her evocative love poems, including the National Poetry Competition-winning piece hailed by judges as “a daring blend of fire and ice, passion and design,” and her operatic love letter, Writing to Onegin, described by the Times Literary Supplement as “a startling poem filled with extravagance.”

Vijay Jagtap, one of Britain’s most celebrated sitar artists, will captivate the audience with his extraordinary talent. Born into a distinguished musical family in Vadodara, India, Vijay’s artistry is rooted in a rich heritage passed down through generations. His performances, praised for their technical mastery and emotional depth, have graced spiritual retreats, prestigious cultural festivals, and renowned concert halls worldwide.

Let this evening be a journey into the beauty of poetry and the healing power of music, celebrating harmony, passion, and creativity in the enchanting setting of Forty Hall.
